What if email – which can be seen as an instant messaging tool – and its related technologies, protocols, and regulations had received much more attention from F/LOSS and public interest technology practitioners and funders in the last 15 years? if we had had reliable, safer, private, and easier to use encrypted email? Would it have curbed instant messaging apps? How would disinformation campaigns be different? How would surveillance capitalism have reacted to it?

Hopefully one day
Hopefully one day we’ll all smile
Hopefully just one day, for all we cry.
Hopefully one day the damn virus we curse.
In the next, thank it for the reality it called us.
The uggliest HTML markup ever – candidate 01
H(1)olly shit. If this isn’t the uggliest HTML markup I ever saw, it is a top candidate.
Oxalá um dia
Oxalá um dia vamos sorrir
Oxalá apenas um dia chorar.
Oxalá um dia maldizer o maldito vírus e, no outro,
agradecê-lo que à realidade nos veio chamar.
“My talent is identifying birds”
A tweet exchanged reminding me most of facial recognition and other biometric systems deployed in policing and surveillance contexts.
